Perth is the capital of Western Australia (WA), the largest state in Australia. Situated on the banks of the Swan River and is only a few kilometers from the magnificent beaches of the Indian Ocean. With a population of 1.5 million inhabitants is the fourth largest city in Australia.

Beginnings

Perth was consolidated at the end of the 1820s and was incorporated as a city in 1856. Its name comes from the county of Perth, Scotland. The discovery of gold in 1890 in Kalgoorlie, the construction of piers near the port of Fremantle around 1900 and the completion of the transcontinental railroad in 1917 spurred the growth and prosperity of the city. Today, its industries producing metal articles, processed food, rubber articles, building materials and woven fabric.It also has an oil refinery. 

Tourist Attractions 

On the other hand, tourism is one of the industries that has grown in recent years. Most visitors come from the UK, Singapore, Japan and the U.S.. Among the tourist attractions of Western Australia we can name the beaches, forests and limestone caves. Inside the state stand out gold mines, Goldfields, some of them still active.

To the north are the deserted beaches and wildlife docile. In addition Perth is a fantastic city to visit. Kings Park, overlooking the city, is a popular area for hiking, a botanical garden, famous for its Festival of wild flowers in spring. At the Casa de la Moneda of Perth, on the street there, one can witness the casting of gold and coined a coin. The Art Gallery of Western Australia in Perth Cultural Center holds an extensive collection of Aboriginal art, locally and internationally. And with regard to the nature, beaches for surfing in Perth are among the best in the world, there are also quiet and safe beaches, for which they do not attract the surf.

Perth offers a relaxed lifestyle and healthy, within the framework of a modern, sophisticated city, with a range of cultural, sporting and recreational activities. It is a city very attractive not only to visit but to live permanently. The weather is Mediterranean, temperatures in the summer are the minimum of 18 º and 30 º maximum, while in winter the minimum is 10 º and 19 º maximum Perth also enjoys more sunshine than any other capital city in Australia.His sunny weather coupled with its blue sky and beautiful beaches converted into an increasingly popular destination among tourists and residents. This city offers many opportunities for newcomers and is an excellent choice for those seeking a new destination. The job market offers great opportunities for integration and growth, attracting many immigrants. They also do the same quality of educational institutions, including The University of Western Australia, internationally recognized. While it is a multicultural city (about a quarter were born overseas) the percentage of Latinos is lower than in other Australian cities, and this in an advantage for those who want to learn the language and integrate into society, as the contact with the local culture intensifies.
