The more information you share about your community, family, your expectations the better.
A great idea is to welcome her with a welcome basket which can include a phone card, water bottle, maps, and tourist information from your town, bath items like body lotions, you can include anything really to show that you care about her and you are excited that she is there
Make sure her room is prepared, clean and inviting
Try to introduce things to your au pair
Drive your au pair around your neighbourhood and explain her household appliances, safety issues and house rules, help her to open a bank account, there is plenty to do when your au pair arrives as you can see.
